  •         No dinghy guest fees ($10 per visit)
  •         No limit to dinghy guest sessions (limit of 3 otherwise)

Option A – to cover dependent children under the age of 19

Option B – to cover an adult living at the same address and any dependent children under the age of 19

Further details

Adult (spouse), plus any children under 19 living at the same address as an Active Member

May use Viking facilities, SUP and kayaks once they have received orientation and/or rating (in case of kayak)

Are not required to pay the dinghy guest fee for Family Members, and are not restricted to a maximum of three sessions with a specific guest.

Are not charged guest fees for cruise charters.

Family Members are not entitled to:

  • A vote in the affairs of the Club;
  • Be a member of the Executive Committee;
  • Be rated on the Club owned boats (other that kayaks); and
  • Use the club boats other than on terms established for guests.

Rating requirements for sail fleet still apply, e.g. an Intermediate Active Member cannot bring other Family Members on a Tasar. All Family Members are considered ‘guests’ and ‘novices’ in this case.

Member on Leave

After two years as a member in good standing of the club, you may request to take a year leave. This request must be submitted to the membership officer in writing. You may request up to two years’ leave in any ten year period.

As a Member on Leave:

  • Your rating will be reinstated upon your return to the club as a full member.
  • You can choose, part way through the year, to return as a full member. If you return on or before July 31 of the year your leave is voided; after that date you have ‘used’ one of your two leave years available.
  • All member privileges are placed on hold (ratings, voting, standing for office, booking the cruise boat, and you will pay guest fees on any charters).

During your leave you must pay a reduced fee in order to maintain your standing.

  • For your first year of leave is set at 20% of the Viking Membership rate.
  • For your second year of leave is set at 40% of the Viking Membership rate.

Member Emeritus

  • Available to any member who is both 65 years old or older, and who has been a member in good standing for at least ten years.
  • Once you’ve decided to give up a rating and haven’t changed your mind for one season (before August 1), that decision is permanent. In other words, you can’t give up your Tasar Senior rating this year and then ask for it back next year.
  • The fee is set at 35% of Viking Single Member rates.
  • All other membership duties, responsibilities, and privileges continue to stand.

Contact the membership officer when requesting “Member on Leave” or “Member Emeritus” for discount codes before submitting the online renewal form.
