A great new members cruise

Sailing Freya In Vancouver

Sailing Freya In Vancouver

Freya headed out last weekend (2nd May) for a new members cruise, giving new members of the club a chance to try her out and learn a bit about sailing big boats.  Despite travel chaos caused by the marathon and pouring rain, our spirits were not dampened.  The rain died off just as we set out, and we were rewarded with brisk winds and a long gennaker run over to Bowen island.  The novice sailors hoisted sails, winched ropes, and trimmed the gennaker (everyone works for their lunch on Freya!).  At the end of the day we thanked Freya with a good scrub down, and headed home with slightly burnt noses.

Remember – members don’t need to know anything about sailing keel boats in order to book Freya.  The booking process is quick and easy (just check the calendar for a free date and email the booking officer), and skippers and 2ICs are always happy to hear from someone organizing some keelboat sailing.  You can even bring friends along too!
