Sailpast 2010 was a Blast!

Freya and her sailpast crew for 2010

Feisty, thirsty and foolish Vikings convened on English Bay June 26th for our annual Sailpast.

From start to end, we had many hands to share the Sailpast festivities, from many volunteers to setup, cook, serve and cleanup, over 50 Vikings and guests in attendance, and all the champagne in between – oh yes, not to forget the sailing.

The photos tell the story of Viking spirit as sailors soberly saluted commodore and flagship on their first pass and then promptly unleashed a passionate pursuit of champagne and vigorous close quarter combat with each other.

Champagne came at a cost as the crew of Freya relentlessly exploited their advantage of height and huge buckets to greet the eager celebrants.

Many hands made my job easy. A special thank you to Jason Dom who helped with just about everything, Nicole Guy kept our glasses full, and Simon Gleeson and Tim Gibbs cooking a mean salmon (same for next year!!) Candida Livera came to the table with a cooler of baked potatoes and all the fixens and Helen Bolton and Korine Gagnon made sure we all had a chair to sit on and a table to eat at. Of course we cannot forget Melanie Walls who brought in “MOM” to make caesar salad. I know there are many more that helped and I cannot thank everyone enough, but I will try. THANK YOU!

See you at the beach,
